COMMUNITY OPHTHALMOLOGY

Shankar’s eye hospital for the past 35 years have conducted more than 1500+ camps at various places, mainly in and around Kollam District out of which more than 1,50,000 patients have been examined. More than 17,000 patients underwent successful cataract surgery, 3000 pterygium surgery & more than 5000 patients with various treatments including retinal lasers & injections. Not just eliminating blindness, our eye camps have played significant role in creating awareness on the eye care among the rural people. In recognition of our efforts we got the prestigious ICICI Lombard award for the Best Hospital in Community Health Service in 2015.  

Eye Camps are conducted on all Sundays without any fail round the year. All our camp units follow the same policy of providing high quality treatment to the public without any discrimination.
